Op 23 en 24 september 2023 vond onze allereerste masterclass plaats, begeleid door kunstenaars Juan Pablo Plazas en Hans Demeulenaere, exclusief voor onze residenten!
Dit weekend markeert de start van ons residentieproject ‘What if…’.
Tijdens deze masterclass worden bestaande kunstwerken en de artistieke praktijk van Juan en Hans geactiveerd. De residenten worden uitgedaagd om deze tegenover hun eigen praktijk te plaatsen en nieuwe inzichten te verwerven.
Hans en Juan zijn een prachtige samenwerking aangegaan, die ze gebruikt hebben als inspiratie voor deze masterclass. Voor deze masterclass SHARE A CHAIR werden de residenten gevraagd om A THING mee te brengen. Tijdens de masterclass werden ze ook gevraagd om het idee van een stoel, een liefdesbrief en een performance te verkennen. Ze stelden zichzelf de vraag wat deze elementen binnen hun eigen praktijk zouden kunnen betekenen en hoe dit zich kan verhouden tot hun THING. Maar ook hoe dit zich fysiek en artistiek kan manifesteren. Gedurende dit jaar zullen deze ideeën verder worden verkend en tentoongesteld worden tijdens hun individuele tentoonstellingsmoment.

Our very first masterclass took place on September 23rd and 24th 2023, led by artists Juan Pablo Plazas and Hans Demeulenaere, exclusively for our residents! This weekend marks the beginning of our residency project ‘What if…’. During this masterclass, existing artworks and the artistic practices of Juan and Hans will be activated. The residents will be challenged to juxtapose these with their own practices and gain new insights.
Hans and Juan created a beautiful collaboration, which they used as inspiration for this masterclass. For this masterclass SHARE A CHAIR the artists in residence were asked to bring A THING. During the masterclass they were also asked to explore the idea of a chair, a love letter and a performance. Asking the question of what these things could mean within their own practice and how this can relate to their THING. But also how this could manifest itself in a physical and artistic form. Throughout this year, these ideas will be further explored and exhibited during their individual exhibition moment.
