Welkom bij Projectvierennegentig, een artistiek platform en ontwikkelingsruimte gelegen in het centrum van Oostende. Bij Projectvierennegentig ondersteunen we jonge kunstenaars bij het ontdekken van hun eigen artistieke praktijk en identiteit.
We zijn een alternatieve werkruimte waar reflectie en onderzoek centraal staat, met het hedendaags kunstlandschap als vertrekpunt. De focus ligt op het artistiek proces en het verder uitdiepen van een al bestaande artistiek onderzoek. Dit onderzoek kan verschillende vormen aannemen. Zo organiseren we langdurige als kortstondige momenten voor zowel de in-house kunstenaars als voor de bezoeker of participant (via Project Atelier, Art Space en Art Cubes). De intieme kennismaking met, en voortzetting van artistieke denkprocessen via een fysiek of beeldend dialoog, vindt hier plaats. We mikken niet op afgewerkte producten maar eerder naar beeldende weergaven van het denkproces dat telkens in evolutie staat.
Zo kunnen bijvoorbeeld kunstenaars die nog zoekende zijn naar hun positie binnen het artistiek werkveld hier hun onderzoek verderzetten via residenties, studio visits, masterclasses,…
Verder kunnen ook studenten (secundaire of hoger) met een achtergrond in de kunsten in aanraking komen met de hedendaagse kunstwereld via Projecten, Workshops, Studio Visits,… om zo de kloof tussen het middelbaar, de hogeschool en het werkveld te overbruggen.

Welcome to Projectvierennegentig, an artistic platform / development space located in the center of Ostend. At Projectvierennegentig, we support young artists in discovering their own artistic practice and identity.
We are an alternative workspace where reflection and research are central, with the contemporary art landscape as a starting point. We focus on the artistic process and pushing the boundaries of an already existing artistic research. This research can take on various forms. For instance, we organize both long-term and short-term moments for both in-house artists and visitors or participants (via Project Atelier, Art Space, and Art Cubes). Within this setting, artists engage in intimate explorations and continue their thought processes through physical or visual dialogues. The objective is not to achieve finality in our creations, but rather for visual representations of the thought process that is constantly evolving.
For example, artists who are still seeking their position within the artistic field can continue their research here through residencies, studio visits, masterclasses, and more.
Furthermore, students with a background in the arts can get in touch with the contemporary art world through Projects, Workshops, Studio Visits, etc., bridging the gap between high school, college, and the professional field.
