Niels Poiz lives and works in Brussels. He is a visual artist whose practice is centered on language, narrativity and the sociology we encounter in popular culture, cyberculture, general media and pop music. He explores these themes through performance, installation, sculptures, printed matter (posters), video and publications.

Poiz borrows text and image fragments from popular culture, creating a personal archive through which he expresses his own story and that of others. This process of translation is highly personal but also manages to expose the mechanisms of contemporary digital media. Among other things, the private is made public and thus forms a part of a massive public archive.
Coming-of-age themes, researching communication strategies and sociology are the common themes throughout his oeuvre.

The exhibition brings together performances, artist books and other works. In the exhibition we enter into a dialog between writing and the production of images, but also between the visiting students and Poiz’s work.
